Peyton Manning’s Future

What is going to happen to Peyton Manning now that the Colts are set to release him? Where will he go? Despite not playing for an entire season, he is still remains front page news, and a very hot commodity. Peyton probably has at best three good seasons left in him, and with the status of his health so uncertain, it could be less. However, there is still a chance he can come in and help out a team with an opening at the quarterback position.

The Washington Redskins have a glaring need at this position, and Daniel Snyder is crazy enough to dish out the cash for Manning. I personally think a Manning Shannahan marriage would be an odd one and this may not be his best option. The Cleveland Browns have Colt McCoy who they had a very high opinion of, but quite frankly, McCoy is not that good. Maybe a year or too behind Manning will help McCoy out, but that team is really awful right now.

The Jets would be an interesting option for Manning, especially with his brother being a member of the other New York team. Sanchez seems to be a bust, although many will still argue it’s too early to tell, and they do have talent on that team. A major issue is will Manning and Ryan have conflicting personalities. The team that I think Manning possibly should target is Seattle, who emerged last year as a decent team, and have a lot of young talent in place already.

Peyton could just as easily retire, and go down as a top 5 QB all time. He is going to walk into the HOF, will easily be a first ballot HOF’er, and be remembered as someone who went out on top. A career in either broadcasting or coaching surely awaits him upon retirement.
