Santonio Holmes Back in Green Next Year

The Jets have now made the decision to bring Santonio Holmes back next season. This is very interesting, especially since not only was he a cancer in the locker room last year, he also really did not produce very much. Holmes was the number one receiver on the team, and a captain, but he is not a deep threat in any way. Sure there are receivers who make careers out of being big, physical, possession targets, but Holmes is not that either. This guy has been given too much credit for that one catch in the Super Bowl. Granted that was an amazing catch, but so was the one by David Tyree, and he certainly is not obtaining any sort of contract. Holmes is a good receiver, not great, and he never was.

Him not being a great receiver coupled with the fact that he was an absolute cancer in the locker room is reason enough to cut him. Then after all the grief he apparently gave in the locker room, and the lack of production, Holmes decided to give a lack of effort? You have got to be kidding me. T.O., despite all his character flaws, played hard every time he was on the field, and was either the best or second best at his position almost every year. He still was run out-of-town by Philadelphia.

I do to a certain extent blame Rex Ryan for not gaining control of his locker room. Tom Coughliin would never have let any of the shenanigans take place in the Giants Locker Room. That being said, Rex still has made the Jets more relevant, despite a bad season, since Parcells was the head coach. It was also mind boggling at the end of the season, Mike Tannenbaum openly supported Santanio Holmes.

Santonio Holmes really does not deserve this, especially for the amount of money he is set to make. He should have remained with his super-classy QB Big Ben, to help keep the classiest tandem alive. Ben and him are terrible people.

What’s the deal with whether or not Ben has class? He’s not paid to be classy. He’s paid to play football. Is Antonio Cromartie a ‘class’ guy? How about Ray Lewis? He paid some folks off to get out of a murder rap. Nice guy. He’s classy. Michael Vick? Ask a dog how classy he is. Braylon Edwards? How’s that DUI? Classy.

Tom Brady? Ask single mom Bridget Monayhan how classy he is after bolting before his son was born. Pacman Jones? Plaxico Burress? Albert Haynesworth? Class, class and class. The NFL is full of guys who could only be productive members of society by being in the NFL.

How about Kobe Bryant? Is he a class guy? What Ben did was reprehensible, but it’s not all that much different from what his peers around the NFL are doing.

If the allegations were true then he raped two women.

That is bad. But if the allegations are true, Ray Lewis was at least involved in a murder. Michael Vick killed dogs. Rape is an awful thing. At least as bad as killing someone or something. Why not talk about what an awful person Ray Lewis is? Or Mike Vick?

I dont know why all the hate toward him. If every allegation is true Vick and Ray Lewis just as bad. Ray Carruth maybe the worst athlete in the world ever.

I’ll agree with you there. Carruth is about as low as it gets. As for Holmes, there’s a reason the Steelers let him go for almost nothing.
