Honest Abe and the Vampires

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of the United States, and one of the more popular ones at that. There are many things which Abraham Lincoln is credited for. These things include being honest, building log cabins, “freeing the slaves,” and wearing a big funny hat. A new film, or rather mindless popcorn flick, coming out this summer features one of my favorite things to talk about, VAMPIRES!! It also features the aforementioned former 16th President. What film might that be? None other than Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.

This apparently was a very successful novel. More importantly, these do not seem to be emo-vampires. I do not know much about the story or actors in the movie, but from what I  gather from the premise, it seems like it could be a really fun movie. Apparently, from what I have actually gathered from the book, it involves Abraham Lincoln throughout his life, hunting and killing vampires. This includes the vampire which killed his mother. This was all read from a wikipedia summary, so take it at face value.

Seth Gramme-Smith, the author of this novel, is a genius in my eyes for coming up with this concept. Watching Honest Abe, turn into this macho character and start killing vampires sounds very humorous and entertaining. If this movie is successful, I see it helping the genre as a whole take a step in the right direction. Can I possibly think this makes for a better story than Twilight? Absolutely! No teen melodrama. No stupid sparkling vampires. More importantly, no Kristen Stewart. Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter, appears to be the type of movie I really want to see. Maybe if we are lucky, Abe will stake Bella and Edward, taking Stewart’s’ career with them.
